About The New School of Art

The New School of Art offers training in oil painting, drawing & art history. We pride ourselves on bringing together highly regarded painters from around the world to teach courses and Masterclasses held at hand picked studios in Sussex. This international melting pot means no house style, it means pushing our students’ work in multiple directions, so an individual artistic development can be made and a strong studio practice built. By attending classes and working alongside others, much can be gained. The New School of Art is proud to be able to generate connections and supportive networks between artists.

Since late 2013, The New School of Art has been hosting weekend painting and drawing courses in Lewes, East Sussex. These have been hugely successful and very popular. The class sizes are kept small, and the courses are held in beautiful surroundings, flooded with natural light. For those looking for more adventure, landscape courses are also held in inspiring locations abroad.
