We offer 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Aldborough Hatch area which are led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club.On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style.The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically.If the weather allows, students will be able to draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour before working on painting in the studio.As Louise will be on hand to give guidance, advice and individual tuition, it is the perfect opportunity for our students to create a number of artworks, and they are encouraged to do so.Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration.The second day will provide an opportunity for the group to critique each other’s work.

Portrait Painting Aldborough Hatch

Another course on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is a 2 day course in the greater Aldborough Hatch area led by Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work.On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail.Students will produce a large painting on the second day, with the added difficulty of not adding detail.Students’ work will be discussed throughout this process and their individual choices will be examined, so as to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition.The course will end with a one on one critique of the student’s work.
