Our Landscape Painting courses in the greater Aldgate area are 2 day workshops led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club.This course will show you Louise’s work and painting style.You will concentrate on learning to work dynamically, quickly and freely.Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio.As Louise will be on hand to give guidance, advice and individual tuition, it is the perfect opportunity for our students to create a number of artworks, and they are encouraged to do so.Some of her sketchbooks will be available to look at and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration to inform your painting.On the second day there will be a group critique of everyone’s work.
Portrait Painting Aldgate
We also offer a 2 day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Aldgate area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI.This course will introduce students to the artist as they get to know his work and the philosophy behind it.On the first day, after a demonstration by Tim, you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which focus more on tone, colour and form than detail.The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail.Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition.The student’s work will be assessed on a one to one basis at the end of the course.
