Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2 day workshop in the greater Aldwych area on Landscape Painting.Louise’s work and painting style will be introduced to you on this course.There will be an emphasis on understanding how to work quickly, dynamically and freely.If the weather allows, students will be able to draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour before working on painting in the studio.Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention.A number of her sketchbooks will be there for your perusal while your own sketchbooks will be utilized as reference and ideas for your painting.On the second day there will be a group critique of everyone’s work.

Portrait Painting Aldwych

Also on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters – a 2 day course in the greater Aldwych area.The students will be introduced to the artist on this course, as well as his work and the philosophy behind his work.The first day will start with a demonstration by Tim then you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which concentrate on form, tone and colour, rather than detail.The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail.Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition.The course finishes with a one on one critique of the work the student has produced.
