Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2 day workshop in the greater Barnsbury area on Landscape Painting.On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style.There will be a focus on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically.Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio.While Louise is available during these two days to give advice and one on one tuition, we encourage students to make several paintings.You will be able to look at a few of her sketchbooks and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration for your painting.On the second day there will be a group critique of everyone’s work.
Portrait Painting Barnsbury
Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, presents our Portrait Painting Masterclass, a 2 day workshop in the greater Barnsbury area.This course will introduce students to the artist as they get to know his work and the philosophy behind it.On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail.The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail.A thorough discussion of students’ work and their individual choices throughout this process will lead to an identification of how to create interest and tension in the composition.At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
