We offer 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Battersea area which are led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club.This course will introduce you to Louise’s work and painting style.There will be an emphasis on understanding how to work quickly, dynamically and freely.If the weather permits, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction can be done outside, and the painting can be done in the studio.While Louise is available during these two days to give advice and one on one tuition, we encourage students to make several paintings.You will be given the opportunity to examine some of her sketchbooks and then you will use your own sketchbooks as reference and as a source of ideas for your own painting.On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.

Portrait Painting Battersea

Another course on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is a 2 day course in the greater Battersea area led by Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.During this course, students will become familiar with the artist, his work and the philosophy behind it.The first day will be begun with a demonstration by Tim, and then you will create your own small, quick oil sketches which focus on tone, colour and form more than detail.On the second day students will produce a large painting, again resisting the urge to add detail.Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition.The student’s work will be assessed on a one to one basis at the end of the course.
