We offer 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Beckenham area which are led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club.On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style.The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically.If the weather allows, students will be able to draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour before working on painting in the studio.While Louise is available during these two days to give advice and one on one tuition, we encourage students to make several paintings.A number of her sketchbooks will be there for your perusal while your own sketchbooks will be utilized as reference and ideas for your painting.On the second day there will be a group critique of everyone’s work.

Portrait Painting Beckenham

Another course on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is a 2 day course in the greater Beckenham area led by Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.On this course, students will get to know the artist and his work, as well as the philosophy behind his work.The first day will start with a demonstration by Tim then you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which concentrate on form, tone and colour, rather than detail.On the second day students will create a large painting, again without adding detail.Students’ work and the choices they made during its creation will be discussed and analysed during this process to discover how to create tension and interest in the composition.The course will end with a one on one critique of the student’s work.
