We offer 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Becontree Heath area which are led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club.This course will introduce you to Louise’s work and painting style.The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically.If the weather allows, students will be able to draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour before working on painting in the studio.These two days provide the perfect opportunity for students to create a few paintings, as Louise will be available to give guidance and individual tuition.Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration.The group will assess everyone’s work on the second day.
Portrait Painting Becontree Heath
Another course on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is a 2 day course in the greater Becontree Heath area led by Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work.The first day will be begun with a demonstration by Tim, and then you will create your own small, quick oil sketches which focus on tone, colour and form more than detail.The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail.A thorough discussion of students’ work and their individual choices throughout this process will lead to an identification of how to create interest and tension in the composition.The student’s work will be assessed on a one to one basis at the end of the course.
