Our Landscape Painting courses in the greater Beddington area are 2 day workshops led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club.This course will show you Louise’s work and painting style.The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically.Weather permitting, students can choose to work outside, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction before painting in the studio.While Louise is available during these two days to give advice and one on one tuition, we encourage students to make several paintings.Some of her sketchbooks will be available to look at and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration to inform your painting.The group will assess everyone’s work on the second day.
Portrait Painting Beddington
Another course on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is a 2 day course in the greater Beddington area led by Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.On this course, students will get to know the artist and his work, as well as the philosophy behind his work.On the first day, after a demonstration by Tim, you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which focus more on tone, colour and form than detail.A large painting will be produced by the students on the second day – again, a work without detail.Students’ work and the choices they made during its creation will be discussed and analysed during this process to discover how to create tension and interest in the composition.The course will conclude with a one on one assessment of the student’s work.
