Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2 day workshop in the greater Bedford Park area on Landscape Painting.On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style.The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically.If the weather allows, students will be able to draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour before working on painting in the studio.Students will be encouraged to make several paintings over both days and Louise will be on hand to provide advice and individual tuition.Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration.The second day will give the group the chance to assess everyone’s work.

Also on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters – a 2 day course in the greater Bedford Park area.This course will introduce students to the artist as they get to know his work and the philosophy behind it.Tim will start the first day with a demonstration, after which you will go on to make small, quick oil sketches, concentrating not on detail but on form, tone and colour.Students will produce a large painting on the second day, with the added difficulty of not adding detail.A thorough discussion of students’ work and their individual choices throughout this process will lead to an identification of how to create interest and tension in the composition.The course will conclude with a one on one assessment of the student’s work.
