Landscape Painting Courses Belvedere

Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, runs our 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Belvedere area.Louise’s work and painting style will be introduced to you on this course.You will concentrate on learning to work dynamically, quickly and freely.Weather permitting, students can choose to work outside, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction before painting in the studio.While Louise is available during these two days to give advice and one on one tuition, we encourage students to make several paintings.You will be given the opportunity to examine some of her sketchbooks and then you will use your own sketchbooks as reference and as a source of ideas for your own painting.The second day will give the group the chance to assess everyone’s work.

Portrait Painting Belvedere

Another course on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is a 2 day course in the greater Belvedere area led by Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.The students will be introduced to the artist on this course, as well as his work and the philosophy behind his work.Tim will start the first day with a demonstration, after which you will go on to make small, quick oil sketches, concentrating not on detail but on form, tone and colour.On the second day students will produce a large painting, again resisting the urge to add detail.Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition.The course will end with a one on one critique of the student’s work.
