Our Landscape Painting courses in the greater Biggin Hill area are 2 day workshops led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club.Louise’s work and painting style will be introduced to you on this course.The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically.If the weather permits, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction can be done outside, and the painting can be done in the studio.Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention.A number of her sketchbooks will be there for your perusal while your own sketchbooks will be utilized as reference and ideas for your painting.On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.
Portrait Painting Biggin Hill
Another course on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is a 2 day course in the greater Biggin Hill area led by Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.During this course, students will become familiar with the artist, his work and the philosophy behind it.Tim will start the first day with a demonstration, after which you will go on to make small, quick oil sketches, concentrating not on detail but on form, tone and colour.Students will produce a large painting on the second day, with the added difficulty of not adding detail.Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition.The student’s work will be assessed on a one to one basis at the end of the course.
