Our art courses have been designed with artists of all levels in mind, from beginner to professional. We aim to cap the capacity of our Beginner art classes at 10 or 12 so we can guarantee the classes are small and intimate, which allows our students to enjoy individual attention from the tutors. Our Beginner art lessons incorporate individual and group work. You will be given the opportunity to share ideas with other students, as well as being given one to one time with your tutor to focus on your own specific needs.

Advanced Art Classes Bines-Green

For those professional artists who are looking to gain more experience or depth or concentrate on the art they have already produced, our Advanced art courses are just what you are looking for. All of our tutors are practising artists and will be able to give you technical support and provide an insight into the industry as it stands right now. You are sure to find like-minded artists in the Advanced art class who share your goals – to challenge their skills and knowledge and define and develop their practice. We understand that taking the time to do a course can be tricky, especially if you are a working professional, so we have developed timetables to suit your busy schedule.

Fine Art Courses Bines-Green

Another course offered by the New School of Art is the Fine Art course in the greater Bines-Green area, which offers a broader overview of fine art. The tutors will provide an introduction to fine art practice, including drawing and painting, which will help the students focus on and effectively critique their artworks. As it is led by professional artists, this programme gives students the opportunity of benefitting from class discussions, workshops and one to one tutorials. On the course students will gain insight into how their course tutor works and at the same time develop their own skills.

Life Drawing Classes Bines-Green

Another class we offer in the greater Bines-Green area are the Life Drawing classes, which are proving to be a popular choice. We believe rigorous study in drawing is essential to all figurative work, and underpins our philosophy as an Art school. In this class, the life model is drawn in a range of different poses. The Life Drawing classes are a chance for artists to practise their draftmanship and indulge their creativity in a supportive, focussed environment. Guidance and instruction will be provided by the tutors. This programme will develop your skills, regardless of your level of ability. Though there is tuition and direction, this class is a great opportunity to work on your drawing in a more social environment.

Landscape Painting Courses Bines-Green

Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, runs our 2-day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Bines-Green area. On this course you will be introduced to Louise’s work and her painting style. The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically. Weather permitting, students can choose to work outside, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction before painting in the studio. As Louise will be on hand to give guidance, advice and individual tuition, it is the perfect opportunity for our students to create a number of artworks, and they are encouraged to do so. Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration. On the second day there will be a group critique of everyone’s work.

Portrait Painting Bines-Green

Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, presents our Portrait Painting Masterclass, a 2-day workshop in the greater Bines-Green area. On this course, students will get to know the artist and his work, as well as the philosophy behind his work. Tim will start the first day with a demonstration, after which you will go on to make small, quick oil sketches, concentrating not on detail but on form, tone and colour. On the second day students will create a large painting, again without adding detail. Students’ work and the choices they made during its creation will be discussed and analysed during this process to discover how to create tension and interest in the composition. The student’s work will be assessed on a one to one basis at the end of the course.
