Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, runs our 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Blackfen area.Louise’s work and painting style will be introduced to you on this course.You will concentrate on learning to work dynamically, quickly and freely.If the weather allows, students will be able to draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour before working on painting in the studio.Students will be encouraged to make several paintings over both days and Louise will be on hand to provide advice and individual tuition.Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration.The second day will give the group the chance to assess everyone’s work.
Portrait Painting Blackfen
We also offer a 2 day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Blackfen area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI.On this course, students will get to know the artist and his work, as well as the philosophy behind his work.On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail.On the second day students will produce a large painting, again resisting the urge to add detail.In order to identify ways in which to create interest and tension in the work, students’ work will be discussed and their choices examined throughout this process.The course will end with a one on one critique of the student’s work.
