Landscape Painting Courses Blackfriars

Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2 day workshop in the greater Blackfriars area on Landscape Painting.On this course you will be introduced to Louise’s work and her painting style.The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically.If the weather permits, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction can be done outside, and the painting can be done in the studio.Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention.Some of her sketchbooks will be available to look at and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration to inform your painting.The second day will give the group the chance to assess everyone’s work.

Portrait Painting Blackfriars

Also on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters – a 2 day course in the greater Blackfriars area.On this course, students will get to know the artist and his work, as well as the philosophy behind his work.On the first day, after a demonstration by Tim, you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which focus more on tone, colour and form than detail.On the second day students will create a large painting, again without adding detail.Students’ work will be discussed throughout this process and their individual choices will be examined, so as to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition.The course will conclude with a one on one assessment of the student’s work.
