Our art courses have been created with the whole range of artists in mind, from beginner to professional.Whether you are just starting to paint, if you are thinking of taking up art as a hobby or if you want to improve your existing skills, our team of tutors will focus specifically on your needs.Our small, intimate Beginner art classes are capped at a maximum of 10 or 12 students so as to allow the students to benefit from all the direction they need from the tutors.Our Beginner art lessons incorporate individual and group work.You will be given the chance to both to discuss your specific needs one on one with your tutor and to share ideas with other students.

Landscape Painting Courses Bow
Our Landscape Painting courses in the greater Bow area are 2 day workshops led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club.On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style.You will concentrate on learning to work dynamically, quickly and freely.If the weather permits, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction can be done outside, and the painting can be done in the studio.These two days provide the perfect opportunity for students to create a few paintings, as Louise will be available to give guidance and individual tuition.You will be given the opportunity to examine some of her sketchbooks and then you will use your own sketchbooks as reference and as a source of ideas for your own painting.On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.
Portrait Painting Bow
We also offer our Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Bow area, a 2 day course led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work.On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail.Students will produce a large painting on the second day, with the added difficulty of not adding detail.A thorough discussion of students’ work and their individual choices throughout this process will lead to an identification of how to create interest and tension in the composition.The student’s work will be assessed on a one to one basis at the end of the course.
