Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, runs our 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Brent Cross area.This course will show you Louise’s work and painting style.The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically.Weather permitting, students can choose to work outside, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction before painting in the studio.While Louise is available during these two days to give advice and one on one tuition, we encourage students to make several paintings.Some of her sketchbooks will be available to look at and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration to inform your painting.The second day will give the group the chance to assess everyone’s work.
Portrait Painting Brent Cross
We also offer a 2 day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Brent Cross area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI.During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work.The first day will be begun with a demonstration by Tim, and then you will create your own small, quick oil sketches which focus on tone, colour and form more than detail.On the second day students will create a large painting, again without adding detail.Students’ work will be discussed throughout this process and their individual choices will be examined, so as to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition.The student’s work will be assessed on a one to one basis at the end of the course.
