The New School of Art also offers a 2 day Landscape Painting course in the greater Brent Park area, presented by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club.On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style.The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically.Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio.While Louise is available during these two days to give advice and one on one tuition, we encourage students to make several paintings.You will be given the opportunity to examine some of her sketchbooks and then you will use your own sketchbooks as reference and as a source of ideas for your own painting.The second day will provide an opportunity for the group to critique each other’s work.

Portrait Painting Brent Park

Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, presents our Portrait Painting Masterclass, a 2 day workshop in the greater Brent Park area.During this course, students will become familiar with the artist, his work and the philosophy behind it.The first day will start with a demonstration by Tim then you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which concentrate on form, tone and colour, rather than detail.The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail.Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition.The course finishes with a one on one critique of the work the student has produced.
