Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, runs our 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Brimsdown area.Louise’s work and painting style will be introduced to you on this course.The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically.Weather permitting, students can choose to work outside, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction before painting in the studio.Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention.Some of her sketchbooks will be available to look at and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration to inform your painting.On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.

Portrait Painting Brimsdown

We also offer a 2 day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Brimsdown area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI.During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work.On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail.Students will produce a large painting on the second day, with the added difficulty of not adding detail.Students’ work will be discussed throughout this process and their individual choices will be examined, so as to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition.At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
