We offer 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Brixton area which are led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club.This course will show you Louise’s work and painting style.The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically.Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio.Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention.Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration.On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.

Portrait Painting Brixton

Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, presents our Portrait Painting Masterclass, a 2 day workshop in the greater Brixton area.During this course, students will become familiar with the artist, his work and the philosophy behind it.On the first day, after a demonstration by Tim, you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which focus more on tone, colour and form than detail.Students will produce a large painting on the second day, with the added difficulty of not adding detail.Students’ work and the choices they made during its creation will be discussed and analysed during this process to discover how to create tension and interest in the composition.The course will end with a one on one critique of the student’s work.
