Beginners Art Classes Broad-Street
Whether you are a beginner or a professional artist, we have an art course designed just for you. If you have just started painting, are starting a new hobby or are thinking of developing your established painting practice, our tutors will work with you at your level. By aiming to ensure a maximum class size of 10 or 12, we are able to offer small, intimate Beginner art classes and a tutor on hand to give you the individual attention you need. Both individual and group work is involved in our Beginner art lessons. You will be able to share ideas with other students and focus on your individual needs with one to one time with your tutor.
Advanced Art Classes Broad-Street
Our Advanced art courses in the greater Broad-Street area are perfect for those professional artists who are looking to gain more depth or experience or focus on the work they already create. All of our tutors are on hand to provide technical support to the students and, as practising artists, can give an insight into the industry as it stands now. In our Advanced art classes you will be among like-minded artists who similarly wish to develop and define their own practice and challenge their skills and knowledge. We realise that as working professionals it can be hard to juggle your responsibilities and taking part in a course, so we have timetables which can accommodate your busy schedule.
Fine Art Courses Broad-Street
Another course offered by the New School of Art is the Fine Art course in the greater Broad-Street area, which offers a broader overview of fine art. By providing an introduction to fine art practice – including drawing and painting– the tutors will help students focus and critically reflect upon their work and painting. Taught by professional artists, this programme allows students to benefit from class discussions, workshops and one to one tutorials. During the course, students will develop their skills and gain insight into the way their course tutor works.
Life Drawing Classes Broad-Street
The Life Drawing classes we run in the greater Broad-Street area are a popular choice. The philosophy of our Art school is based on the belief that rigorous study in drawing is essential to all figurative work. The class entails drawing the life model in a range of different poses. The Life Drawing classes are a chance for artists to practise their draftmanship and indulge their creativity in a supportive, focussed environment. Tutors will be available to give guidance and provide instruction. No matter what your level of ability is, this programme will develop your skills. This class not only provides tuition and direction, but it is a good opportunity to focus on drawing in a more social setting.
Landscape Painting Courses Broad-Street
We offer 2-day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Broad-Street area which are led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club. Louise’s work and painting style will be introduced to you on this course. The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically. Weather permitting, students can choose to work outside, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction before painting in the studio. Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention. A number of her sketchbooks will be there for your perusal while your own sketchbooks will be utilized as reference and ideas for your painting. The second day will give the group the chance to assess everyone’s work.
Portrait Painting Broad-Street
Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, presents our Portrait Painting Masterclass, a 2-day workshop in the greater Broad-Street area. During this course, students will become familiar with the artist, his work and the philosophy behind it. The first day will be begun with a demonstration by Tim, and then you will create your own small, quick oil sketches which focus on tone, colour and form more than detail. A large painting will be produced by the students on the second day – again, a work without detail. A thorough discussion of students’ work and their individual choices throughout this process will lead to an identification of how to create interest and tension in the composition. The course finishes with a one on one critique of the work the student has produced.
