Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2 day workshop in the greater Brompton area on Landscape Painting.On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style.The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically.If the weather permits, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction can be done outside, and the painting can be done in the studio.As Louise will be on hand to give guidance, advice and individual tuition, it is the perfect opportunity for our students to create a number of artworks, and they are encouraged to do so.A number of her sketchbooks will be there for your perusal while your own sketchbooks will be utilized as reference and ideas for your painting.The group will assess everyone’s work on the second day.

We also offer a 2 day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Brompton area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI.During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work.Tim will start the first day with a demonstration, after which you will go on to make small, quick oil sketches, concentrating not on detail but on form, tone and colour.On the second day students will produce a large painting, again resisting the urge to add detail.Students’ work and the choices they made during its creation will be discussed and analysed during this process to discover how to create tension and interest in the composition.At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
