Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2 day workshop in the greater Brunswick Park area on Landscape Painting.On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style.The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically.Weather permitting, students can choose to work outside, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction before painting in the studio.Students will be encouraged to make several paintings over both days and Louise will be on hand to provide advice and individual tuition.Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration.On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.

Portrait Painting Brunswick Park

Also on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters – a 2 day course in the greater Brunswick Park area.This course will introduce students to the artist as they get to know his work and the philosophy behind it.The first day will start with a demonstration by Tim then you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which concentrate on form, tone and colour, rather than detail.On the second day students will create a large painting, again without adding detail.In order to identify ways in which to create interest and tension in the work, students’ work will be discussed and their choices examined throughout this process.The course will end with a one on one critique of the student’s work.
