Beginners Art Classes Burnt-Oak
Whether you are a beginner or a professional artist, we have an art course designed just for you. If you have just started painting, are starting a new hobby or are thinking of developing your established painting practice, our tutors will work with you at your level. Our Beginner art classes are small and intimate (we aim to cap the capacity of the classes at 10 or 12) allowing you to receive all the direction you need from your tutor. Our Beginner art lessons combine individual projects and group projects. You will be able to share ideas with other students and focus on your individual needs with one to one time with your tutor.
Advanced Art Classes Burnt-Oak
Our Advanced art courses in the greater Burnt-Oak area are ideal for professional artists who are looking for more experience, depth or focus on the work they already create. All of our tutors are on hand to provide technical support to the students and, as practising artists, can give an insight into the industry as it stands now. Fine Art Courses Burnt-Oak
If you are interested in a more general overview of Fine Art, the New School of Art offers a Fine Art course in the greater Burnt-Oak area. The tutors will provide an introduction to fine art practice, including drawing and painting, which will help the students focus on and effectively critique their artworks. This programme is taught by professional artists allowing students to be involved in class workshops and discussions, as well as one to one tutorials. On the course students will gain insight into how their course tutor works and at the same time develop their own skills.
Life Drawing Classes Burnt-Oak
We also offer Life Drawing classes in the greater Burnt-Oak area, which are very popular. We believe rigorous study in drawing is essential to all figurative work, and underpins our philosophy as an Art school. The class involves drawing the life model in a variety of poses. The Life Drawing classes allow artists to explore their creativity and practice their draftmanship in a focused and supportive environment. Tutors will be there to give instruction and guidance. This programme will develop your skills, regardless of your level of ability. This class not only provides tuition and direction, but it is a good opportunity to focus on drawing in a more social setting.
Landscape Painting Courses Burnt-Oak
Our Landscape Painting courses in the greater Burnt-Oak area are 2-day workshops led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club. On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style. The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically. Provided there is good weather, students can draw outdoors as they work with pencil and watercolour, focusing on simplification and abstraction before they move indoors and paint in the studio. As Louise will be on hand to give guidance, advice and individual tuition, it is the perfect opportunity for our students to create a number of artworks, and they are encouraged to do so. Some of her sketchbooks will be available to look at and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration to inform your painting. On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.
Portrait Painting Burnt-Oak
We also offer a 2-day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Burnt-Oak area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI. On this course, students will get to know the artist and his work, as well as the philosophy behind his work. Tim will start the first day with a demonstration, after which you will go on to make small, quick oil sketches, concentrating not on detail but on form, tone and colour. Students will produce a large painting on the second day, with the added difficulty of not adding detail. Students’ work will be discussed throughout this process and their individual choices will be examined, so as to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. The course will conclude with a one on one assessment of the student’s work.
