Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2 day workshop in the greater Burnt Oak area on Landscape Painting.Louise’s work and painting style will be introduced to you on this course.The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically.If the weather permits, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction can be done outside, and the painting can be done in the studio.These two days provide the perfect opportunity for students to create a few paintings, as Louise will be available to give guidance and individual tuition.Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration.The second day will give the group the chance to assess everyone’s work.

We also offer our Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Burnt Oak area, a 2 day course led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work.Tim will start the first day with a demonstration, after which you will go on to make small, quick oil sketches, concentrating not on detail but on form, tone and colour.On the second day students will produce a large painting, again resisting the urge to add detail.Students’ work and the choices they made during its creation will be discussed and analysed during this process to discover how to create tension and interest in the composition.At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
