Beginners Art Classes Byfleet
Our art courses have been created with the whole range of artists in mind, from beginner to professional. If you are new to painting, starting a new hobby or looking to develop an existing painting practice, our tutors will work with you at your current level. Our Beginner art classes are intentionally kept small and intimate by aiming to cap the class sizes at 10 or 12 to allow you to receive all the direction you need from your tutor. Our Beginner art lessons involve both individual and group work. You will be able to share ideas with other students and focus on your individual needs with one to one time with your tutor.
Advanced Art Classes Byfleet
Our Advanced art courses in the greater Byfleet area are perfect for those professional artists who are looking to gain more depth or experience or focus on the work they already create. All of our tutors are practising artists and so will be able to give technical support to our students as well as provide an insight into the current status of the industry. On an Advanced art course you will be in a class of like minded artists, who have the same goal – to develop and define their own practice and challenge their existing skills and knowledge. We realise that as working professionals it can be hard to juggle your responsibilities and taking part in a course, so we have timetables which can accommodate your busy schedule.
Fine Art Courses Byfleet
Another course offered by the New School of Art is the Fine Art course in the greater Byfleet area, which offers a broader overview of fine art. The tutors will help students focus and critically reflect on their work and painting by providing an introduction to fine art practice, including drawing and painting. This programme is led by working artists, so students can benefit from one to one discussions with professionals, as well as discussions and workshops with their peers. On the course students will gain insight into how their course tutor works and at the same time develop their own skills.
Life Drawing Classes Byfleet
A popular choice are the Life Drawing classes we run in the greater Byfleet area. Our belief that thorough study in drawing is essential to all figurative work is the foundation of our philosophy as an Art school. The class involves drawing the life model in a variety of poses. The Life Drawing classes allow artists to explore their creativity and practice their draftmanship in a focused and supportive environment. Guidance and instruction will be provided by the tutors. This programme will develop your skills, regardless of your level of ability. Though there is tuition and direction, this class is a great opportunity to work on your drawing in a more social environment.
Landscape Painting Courses Byfleet
Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, runs our 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Byfleet area. This course will show you Louise’s work and painting style. The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically. Provided there is good weather, students can draw outdoors as they work with pencil and watercolour, focusing on simplification and abstraction before they move indoors and paint in the studio. Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention. Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration. On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.
Portrait Painting Byfleet
Also on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters – a 2 day course in the greater Byfleet area. During this course, students will become familiar with the artist, his work and the philosophy behind it. The first day will start with a demonstration by Tim then you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which concentrate on form, tone and colour, rather than detail. A large painting will be produced by the students on the second day – again, a work without detail. In order to identify ways in which to create interest and tension in the work, students’ work will be discussed and their choices examined throughout this process. The course finishes with a one on one critique of the work the student has produced.
