We offer 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Camberwell area which are led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club.This course will introduce you to Louise’s work and painting style.You will concentrate on learning to work dynamically, quickly and freely.Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio.Students will be encouraged to make several paintings over both days and Louise will be on hand to provide advice and individual tuition.You will be given the opportunity to examine some of her sketchbooks and then you will use your own sketchbooks as reference and as a source of ideas for your own painting.The second day will provide an opportunity for the group to critique each other’s work.
Portrait Painting Camberwell
We also offer a 2 day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Camberwell area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI.On this course, students will get to know the artist and his work, as well as the philosophy behind his work.The first day will be begun with a demonstration by Tim, and then you will create your own small, quick oil sketches which focus on tone, colour and form more than detail.The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail.A thorough discussion of students’ work and their individual choices throughout this process will lead to an identification of how to create interest and tension in the composition.The course will conclude with a one on one assessment of the student’s work.
