Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2 day workshop in the greater Canning Town area on Landscape Painting.This course will introduce you to Louise’s work and painting style.The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically.Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio.Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention.Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration.The second day will provide an opportunity for the group to critique each other’s work.
Portrait Painting Canning Town
Another course on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is a 2 day course in the greater Canning Town area led by Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work.Tim will start the first day with a demonstration, after which you will go on to make small, quick oil sketches, concentrating not on detail but on form, tone and colour.The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail.Students’ work will be discussed throughout this process and their individual choices will be examined, so as to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition.The student’s work will be assessed on a one to one basis at the end of the course.
