Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, runs our 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Castelnau area.Louise’s work and painting style will be introduced to you on this course.There will be a focus on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically.Provided there is good weather, students can draw outdoors as they work with pencil and watercolour, focusing on simplification and abstraction before they move indoors and paint in the studio.As Louise will be on hand to give guidance, advice and individual tuition, it is the perfect opportunity for our students to create a number of artworks, and they are encouraged to do so.A number of her sketchbooks will be there for your perusal while your own sketchbooks will be utilized as reference and ideas for your painting.The second day will give the group the chance to assess everyone’s work.

We also offer a 2 day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Castelnau area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI.During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work.The first day will start with a demonstration by Tim then you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which concentrate on form, tone and colour, rather than detail.On the second day students will produce a large painting, again resisting the urge to add detail.Students’ work and the choices they made during its creation will be discussed and analysed during this process to discover how to create tension and interest in the composition.The course will conclude with a one on one assessment of the student’s work.
