Landscape Painting Courses Chalk Farm

We offer 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Chalk Farm area which are led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club.Louise’s work and painting style will be introduced to you on this course.There will be a focus on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically.If the weather allows, students will be able to draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour before working on painting in the studio.Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention.Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration.On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.

Portrait Painting Chalk Farm

Another course on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is a 2 day course in the greater Chalk Farm area led by Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.The students will be introduced to the artist on this course, as well as his work and the philosophy behind his work.On the first day, after a demonstration by Tim, you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which focus more on tone, colour and form than detail.Students will produce a large painting on the second day, with the added difficulty of not adding detail.In order to identify ways in which to create interest and tension in the work, students’ work will be discussed and their choices examined throughout this process.The course finishes with a one on one critique of the work the student has produced.
