Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, runs our 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Charing Cross area.On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style.The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically.If the weather permits, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction can be done outside, and the painting can be done in the studio.These two days provide the perfect opportunity for students to create a few paintings, as Louise will be available to give guidance and individual tuition.You will be given the opportunity to examine some of her sketchbooks and then you will use your own sketchbooks as reference and as a source of ideas for your own painting.On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.

Portrait Painting Charing Cross

We also offer our Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Charing Cross area, a 2 day course led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.This course will introduce students to the artist as they get to know his work and the philosophy behind it.On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail.A large painting will be produced by the students on the second day – again, a work without detail.Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition.The student’s work will be assessed on a one to one basis at the end of the course.
