Landscape Painting Courses Charleshill

Our Landscape Painting courses in the greater Charleshill area are 2 day workshops led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club. On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style. The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically. If the weather allows, students will be able to draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour before working on painting in the studio. Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention. You will be given the opportunity to examine some of her sketchbooks and then you will use your own sketchbooks as reference and as a source of ideas for your own painting. On the second day there will be a group critique of everyone’s work.

Portrait Painting Charleshill

Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, presents our Portrait Painting Masterclass, a 2 day workshop in the greater Charleshill area. During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work. On the first day, after a demonstration by Tim, you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which focus more on tone, colour and form than detail. On the second day students will produce a large painting, again resisting the urge to add detail. Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. The course will end with a one on one critique of the student’s work.
