We offer 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Chase Cross area which are led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club.On this course you will be introduced to Louise’s work and her painting style.There will be a focus on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically.Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio.Students will be encouraged to make several paintings over both days and Louise will be on hand to provide advice and individual tuition.You will be able to look at a few of her sketchbooks and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration for your painting.The second day will give the group the chance to assess everyone’s work.

Portrait Painting Chase Cross

We also offer a 2 day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Chase Cross area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI.During this course, students will become familiar with the artist, his work and the philosophy behind it.On the first day, after a demonstration by Tim, you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which focus more on tone, colour and form than detail.Students will produce a large painting on the second day, with the added difficulty of not adding detail.A thorough discussion of students’ work and their individual choices throughout this process will lead to an identification of how to create interest and tension in the composition.At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
