Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2 day workshop in the greater Cheam area on Landscape Painting.This course will show you Louise’s work and painting style.There will be an emphasis on understanding how to work quickly, dynamically and freely.If the weather permits, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction can be done outside, and the painting can be done in the studio.These two days provide the perfect opportunity for students to create a few paintings, as Louise will be available to give guidance and individual tuition.A number of her sketchbooks will be there for your perusal while your own sketchbooks will be utilized as reference and ideas for your painting.On the second day there will be a group critique of everyone’s work.

Portrait Painting Cheam

Also on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters – a 2 day course in the greater Cheam area.This course will introduce students to the artist as they get to know his work and the philosophy behind it.The first day will start with a demonstration by Tim then you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which concentrate on form, tone and colour, rather than detail.The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail.Students’ work and the choices they made during its creation will be discussed and analysed during this process to discover how to create tension and interest in the composition.The student’s work will be assessed on a one to one basis at the end of the course.
