Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2 day workshop in the greater Chelsea area on Landscape Painting.This course will show you Louise’s work and painting style.The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically.Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio.Students will be encouraged to make several paintings over both days and Louise will be on hand to provide advice and individual tuition.You will be given the opportunity to examine some of her sketchbooks and then you will use your own sketchbooks as reference and as a source of ideas for your own painting.The group will assess everyone’s work on the second day.

Portrait Painting Chelsea

Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, presents our Portrait Painting Masterclass, a 2 day workshop in the greater Chelsea area.During this course, students will become familiar with the artist, his work and the philosophy behind it.On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail.The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail.A thorough discussion of students’ work and their individual choices throughout this process will lead to an identification of how to create interest and tension in the composition.The course finishes with a one on one critique of the work the student has produced.
