Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, runs our 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Chessington area.This course will introduce you to Louise’s work and painting style.The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically.Weather permitting, students can choose to work outside, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction before painting in the studio.Students will be encouraged to make several paintings over both days and Louise will be on hand to provide advice and individual tuition.A number of her sketchbooks will be there for your perusal while your own sketchbooks will be utilized as reference and ideas for your painting.The second day will provide an opportunity for the group to critique each other’s work.
Portrait Painting Chessington
We also offer a 2 day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Chessington area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI.During this course, students will become familiar with the artist, his work and the philosophy behind it.On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail.On the second day students will produce a large painting, again resisting the urge to add detail.In order to identify ways in which to create interest and tension in the work, students’ work will be discussed and their choices examined throughout this process.The course will conclude with a one on one assessment of the student’s work.
