The New School of Art also offers a 2 day Landscape Painting course in the greater Childs Hill area, presented by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club.On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style.There will be an emphasis on understanding how to work quickly, dynamically and freely.If the weather permits, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction can be done outside, and the painting can be done in the studio.These two days provide the perfect opportunity for students to create a few paintings, as Louise will be available to give guidance and individual tuition.Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration.The group will assess everyone’s work on the second day.

Portrait Painting Childs Hill

Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, presents our Portrait Painting Masterclass, a 2 day workshop in the greater Childs Hill area.On this course, students will get to know the artist and his work, as well as the philosophy behind his work.The first day will be begun with a demonstration by Tim, and then you will create your own small, quick oil sketches which focus on tone, colour and form more than detail.On the second day students will create a large painting, again without adding detail.Students’ work will be discussed throughout this process and their individual choices will be examined, so as to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition.The course finishes with a one on one critique of the work the student has produced.
