Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, runs our 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Chinatown area.This course will show you Louise’s work and painting style.You will concentrate on learning to work dynamically, quickly and freely.Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio.These two days provide the perfect opportunity for students to create a few paintings, as Louise will be available to give guidance and individual tuition.You will be given the opportunity to examine some of her sketchbooks and then you will use your own sketchbooks as reference and as a source of ideas for your own painting.The group will assess everyone’s work on the second day.

Portrait Painting Chinatown

We also offer a 2 day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Chinatown area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI.On this course, students will get to know the artist and his work, as well as the philosophy behind his work.On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail.The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail.In order to identify ways in which to create interest and tension in the work, students’ work will be discussed and their choices examined throughout this process.The course will conclude with a one on one assessment of the student’s work.
