Beginners Art Classes Coggins-Mill
Whether you are a beginner or a professional artist, we have an art course designed just for you. Regardless of whether you are just beginning, having some fun or developing your artistic skills, our tutors will be able to work with you at your level. Our small, intimate Beginner art classes are capped at a maximum of 10 or 12 students so as to allow the students to benefit from all the direction they need from the tutors. Our Beginner art lessons incorporate individual and group work. Individual one to one time with your tutor will let you focus on your specific needs while you will also be given the opportunity to collaborate with other students.
Advanced Art Classes Coggins-Mill
Professional artists wanting to gain more experience or depth or focus on the work they already create will find our Advanced art courses in the greater Coggins-Mill area ideal. Our team of tutors are practising artists and will be available to provide an insight into the current industry and provide technical support to the students. On an Advanced art course you will be in a class of like-minded artists, who have the same goal – to develop and define their own practice and challenge their existing skills and knowledge. Fine Art Courses Coggins-Mill
Another course offered by the New School of Art is the Fine Art course in the greater Coggins-Mill area, which offers a broader overview of fine art. By providing an introduction to fine art practice – including drawing and painting– the tutors will help students focus and critically reflect upon their work and painting. As it is led by professional artists, this programme gives students the opportunity of benefitting from class discussions, workshops and one to one tutorials. During the course, students will develop their skills and gain insight into the way their course tutor works.
Life Drawing Classes Coggins-Mill
Our Life Drawing classes which we offer in the greater Coggins-Mill area are proving to be a popular choice. We maintain that thorough study in drawing is important to all figurative work and this underlines our beliefs as an Art school. The class involves drawing the life model in a variety of poses. The Life Drawing classes proivde an opportunity for artists to discover their creative side and practise their draftmanship in a focused, supportive environment. Tutors will be able to provide instruction and guidance. Regardless of your level of ability, this programme will help develop your skills. This class not only provides tuition and direction, but it is a good opportunity to focus on drawing in a more social setting.
Landscape Painting Courses Coggins-Mill
We offer 2-day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Coggins-Mill area which are led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club. On this course you will be introduced to Louise’s work and her painting style. There will be an emphasis on understanding how to work quickly, dynamically and freely. Provided there is good weather, students can draw outdoors as they work with pencil and watercolour, focusing on simplification and abstraction before they move indoors and paint in the studio. Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention. You will be given the opportunity to examine some of her sketchbooks and then you will use your own sketchbooks as reference and as a source of ideas for your own painting. The group will assess everyone’s work on the second day.
Portrait Painting Coggins-Mill
Also on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters – a 2-day course in the greater Coggins-Mill area. During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work. Tim will start the first day with a demonstration, after which you will go on to make small, quick oil sketches, concentrating not on detail but on form, tone and colour. On the second day students will create a large painting, again without adding detail. A thorough discussion of students’ work and their individual choices throughout this process will lead to an identification of how to create interest and tension in the composition. The course finishes with a one on one critique of the work the student has produced.
