Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, runs our 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Dollis Hill area. On this course you will be introduced to Louise’s work and her painting style. The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically. Weather permitting, students can choose to work outside, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction before painting in the studio. While Louise is available during these two days to give advice and one on one tuition, we encourage students to make several paintings.A number of her sketchbooks will be there for your perusal while your own sketchbooks will be utilized as reference and ideas for your painting. On the second day there will be a group critique of everyone’s work.
Portrait Painting Dollis Hill
Another course on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is a 2 day course in the greater Dollis Hill area led by Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. The students will be introduced to the artist on this course, as well as his work and the philosophy behind his work. On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail.On the second day students will create a large painting, again without adding detail. A thorough discussion of students’ work and their individual choices throughout this process will lead to an identification of how to create interest and tension in the composition. The course will conclude with a one on one assessment of the student’s work.
