Beginners Art Classes Etchingwood
Our art courses are designed for a wide range of abilities from beginner to professional artists. If you are new to painting, starting a new hobby or looking to develop an existing painting practice, our tutors will work with you at your current level. We aim to cap the capacity of our Beginner art classes at 10 or 12 so we can guarantee the classes are small and intimate, which allows our students to enjoy individual attention from the tutors. Our Beginner art lessons involve both individual and group work. You will be able to share ideas with other students and focus on your individual needs with one to one time with your tutor.
Advanced Art Classes Etchingwood
For those professional artists who are looking to gain more experience or depth or concentrate on the art they have already produced, our Advanced art courses are just what you are looking for. All of our tutors are practising artists and will be able to give you technical support and provide an insight into the industry as it stands right now. You are sure to find like-minded artists in the Advanced art class who share your goals – to challenge their skills and knowledge and define and develop their practice. As working professionals, we understand that you have responsibilities outside the studio so finding the time to take part in a course may not be easy, which is why we have created timetables which can fit around your busy schedule.
Fine Art Courses Etchingwood
If you are interested in a more general overview of Fine Art, the New School of Art offers a Fine Art course in the greater Etchingwood area. By presenting an introduction to fine art practice – including painting and drawing – our team of tutors will assist students in focusing on and developing a critical awareness of their work. This programme is led by working artists, so students can benefit from one to one discussions with professionals, as well as discussions and workshops with their peers. For the duration of the course, students will grow their skills and gain insight into how their course tutor works.
Life Drawing Classes Etchingwood
We also offer Life Drawing classes in the greater Etchingwood area, which are very popular. We believe rigorous instruction in drawing is vital for all figurative work and this belief underlies our philosophy as an Art school. In this class, the life model is drawn in a range of different poses. The Life Drawing classes are a chance for artists to practise their draftmanship and indulge their creativity in a supportive, focussed environment. Tutors will be on hand to provide guidance and instruction. Regardless of your level of ability, this programme will help develop your skills. This class not only provides tuition and direction, but it is a good opportunity to focus on drawing in a more social setting.
Landscape Painting Courses Etchingwood
Our Landscape Painting courses in the greater Etchingwood area are 2-day workshops led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club. On this course you will be introduced to Louise’s work and her painting style. The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically. Weather permitting, students can choose to work outside, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction before painting in the studio. While Louise is available during these two days to give advice and one on one tuition, we encourage students to make several paintings. Some of her sketchbooks will be available to look at and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration to inform your painting. On the second day there will be a group critique of everyone’s work.
Portrait Painting Etchingwood
We also offer our Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Etchingwood area, a 2-day course led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work. Tim will start the first day with a demonstration, after which you will go on to make small, quick oil sketches, concentrating not on detail but on form, tone and colour. On the second day students will create a large painting, again without adding detail. Students’ work will be discussed throughout this process and their individual choices will be examined, so as to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. The course finishes with a one on one critique of the work the student has produced.
