Beginners Art Classes Forestdale

Our art courses have been created with the whole range of artists in mind, from beginner to professional. Landscape Painting Courses Forestdale

Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2 day workshop in the greater Forestdale area on Landscape Painting. On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style. You will concentrate on learning to work dynamically, quickly and freely. Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio. Students will be encouraged to make several paintings over both days and Louise will be on hand to provide advice and individual tuition.You will be able to look at a few of her sketchbooks and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration for your painting. On the second day there will be a group critique of everyone’s work.

Portrait Painting Forestdale

Another course on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is a 2 day course in the greater Forestdale area led by Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. This course will introduce students to the artist as they get to know his work and the philosophy behind it. The first day will be begun with a demonstration by Tim, and then you will create your own small, quick oil sketches which focus on tone, colour and form more than detail.A large painting will be produced by the students on the second day – again, a work without detail. Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. The course will end with a one on one critique of the student’s work.
