Landscape Painting Courses Gipsy Hill
Our Landscape Painting courses in the greater Gipsy Hill area are 2 day workshops led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club. This course will introduce you to Louise’s work and painting style. You will concentrate on learning to work dynamically, quickly and freely. If the weather allows, students will be able to draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour before working on painting in the studio. As Louise will be on hand to give guidance, advice and individual tuition, it is the perfect opportunity for our students to create a number of artworks, and they are encouraged to do so.Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration. The group will assess everyone’s work on the second day.
Portrait Painting Gipsy Hill
We also offer a 2 day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Gipsy Hill area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI. This course will introduce students to the artist as they get to know his work and the philosophy behind it. On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail.On the second day students will produce a large painting, again resisting the urge to add detail. Students’ work will be discussed throughout this process and their individual choices will be examined, so as to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
