Beginners Art Classes Hole-Street
Our art courses have been designed with artists of all levels in mind, from beginner to professional. If you have just started painting, are starting a new hobby or are thinking of developing your established painting practice, our tutors will work with you at your level. By aiming to ensure a maximum class size of 10 or 12, we are able to offer small, intimate Beginner art classes and a tutor on hand to give you the individual attention you need. Our Beginner art lessons involve not only individual work, but group work as well. You will be given the opportunity to share ideas with other students, as well as being given one to one time with your tutor to focus on your own specific needs.
Advanced Art Classes Hole-Street
Professional artists wanting to gain more experience or depth or focus on the work they already create will find our Advanced art courses in the greater Hole-Street area ideal. Our team of tutors are practising artists and will be available to provide an insight into the current industry and provide technical support to the students. You are sure to find like-minded artists in the Advanced art class who share your goals – to challenge their skills and knowledge and define and develop their practice. Fine Art Courses Hole-Street
The New School of Art offers a Fine Art course in the greater Hole-Street area for a more general overview of fine art. The tutors will provide an introduction to fine art practice, including drawing and painting, which will help the students focus on and effectively critique their artworks. The programme is taught by professional artists, which allows students to benefit from one to one tutorials as well as be involved in class workshops and discussions. Over the course, students will understand how their course tutor works and so develop their own skills.
Life Drawing Classes Hole-Street
Our Life Drawing classes which we offer in the greater Hole-Street area are proving to be a popular choice. We maintain that thorough study in drawing is important to all figurative work and this underlines our beliefs as an Art school. In this class, the life model is drawn in a range of different poses. The Life Drawing classes allow artists to explore their creativity and practice their draftmanship in a focused and supportive environment. Tutors will be able to provide instruction and guidance. This programme will develop your skills, regardless of your level of ability. Though there is tuition and direction, this class is a great opportunity to work on your drawing in a more social environment.
Landscape Painting Courses Hole-Street
Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2-day workshop in the greater Hole-Street area on Landscape Painting. On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style. You will concentrate on learning to work dynamically, quickly and freely. Provided there is good weather, students can draw outdoors as they work with pencil and watercolour, focusing on simplification and abstraction before they move indoors and paint in the studio. While Louise is available during these two days to give advice and one on one tuition, we encourage students to make several paintings. You will be able to look at a few of her sketchbooks and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration for your painting. On the second day there will be a group critique of everyone’s work.
Portrait Painting Hole-Street
Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, presents our Portrait Painting Masterclass, a 2-day workshop in the greater Hole-Street area. During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work. The first day will start with a demonstration by Tim then you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which concentrate on form, tone and colour, rather than detail. On the second day students will produce a large painting, again resisting the urge to add detail. Students’ work will be discussed throughout this process and their individual choices will be examined, so as to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. The course finishes with a one on one critique of the work the student has produced.
