Landscape Painting Courses Holmethorpe
Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2 day workshop in the greater Holmethorpe area on Landscape Painting. This course will show you Louise’s work and painting style. The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically. Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio. Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention. You will be given the opportunity to examine some of her sketchbooks and then you will use your own sketchbooks as reference and as a source of ideas for your own painting. The second day will provide an opportunity for the group to critique each other’s work.
Portrait Painting Holmethorpe
Also on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters – a 2 day course in the greater Holmethorpe area. This course will introduce students to the artist as they get to know his work and the philosophy behind it. The first day will be begun with a demonstration by Tim, and then you will create your own small, quick oil sketches which focus on tone, colour and form more than detail. The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail. Students’ work and the choices they made during its creation will be discussed and analysed during this process to discover how to create tension and interest in the composition. At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
