On this course you will be introduced to Louise’s work and her painting style. The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically. Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio. Students will be encouraged to make several paintings over both days and Louise will be on hand to provide advice and individual tuition.A number of her sketchbooks will be there for your perusal while your own sketchbooks will be utilized as reference and ideas for your painting. The second day will give the group the chance to assess everyone’s work.

Portrait Painting Homerton

Also on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters – a 2 day course in the greater Homerton area. This course will introduce students to the artist as they get to know his work and the philosophy behind it. Tim will start the first day with a demonstration, after which you will go on to make small, quick oil sketches, concentrating not on detail but on form, tone and colour.A large painting will be produced by the students on the second day – again, a work without detail. Students’ work and the choices they made during its creation will be discussed and analysed during this process to discover how to create tension and interest in the composition. The course will end with a one on one critique of the student’s work.
