Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2 day workshop in the greater Hornchurch area on Landscape Painting. Louise’s work and painting style will be introduced to you on this course. The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically. Provided there is good weather, students can draw outdoors as they work with pencil and watercolour, focusing on simplification and abstraction before they move indoors and paint in the studio. These two days provide the perfect opportunity for students to create a few paintings, as Louise will be available to give guidance and individual tuition.Some of her sketchbooks will be available to look at and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration to inform your painting. On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.

Portrait Painting Hornchurch

Also on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters – a 2 day course in the greater Hornchurch area. During this course, students will become familiar with the artist, his work and the philosophy behind it. On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail.A large painting will be produced by the students on the second day – again, a work without detail. Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. The student’s work will be assessed on a one to one basis at the end of the course.
