Our Landscape Painting courses in the greater Kenley area are 2 day workshops led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club. On this course you will be introduced to Louise’s work and her painting style. You will concentrate on learning to work dynamically, quickly and freely. Provided there is good weather, students can draw outdoors as they work with pencil and watercolour, focusing on simplification and abstraction before they move indoors and paint in the studio. Students will be encouraged to make several paintings over both days and Louise will be on hand to provide advice and individual tuition.You will be given the opportunity to examine some of her sketchbooks and then you will use your own sketchbooks as reference and as a source of ideas for your own painting. The second day will give the group the chance to assess everyone’s work.
Portrait Painting Kenley
We also offer our Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Kenley area, a 2 day course led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. During this course, students will become familiar with the artist, his work and the philosophy behind it. On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail.A large painting will be produced by the students on the second day – again, a work without detail. Students’ work will be discussed throughout this process and their individual choices will be examined, so as to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
