Our art courses have been created with the whole range of artists in mind, from beginner to professional. Landscape Painting Courses Lampton
The New School of Art also offers a 2 day Landscape Painting course in the greater Lampton area, presented by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club. On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style. The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically. Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio. Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention.Some of her sketchbooks will be available to look at and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration to inform your painting. The second day will give the group the chance to assess everyone’s work.
Portrait Painting Lampton
We also offer a 2 day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Lampton area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI. The students will be introduced to the artist on this course, as well as his work and the philosophy behind his work. On the first day, after a demonstration by Tim, you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which focus more on tone, colour and form than detail.Students will produce a large painting on the second day, with the added difficulty of not adding detail. Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. The student’s work will be assessed on a one to one basis at the end of the course.
