Landscape Painting Courses Mid Holmwood
Our Landscape Painting courses in the greater Mid Holmwood area are 2 day workshops led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club. On this course you will be introduced to Louise’s work and her painting style. The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically. Weather permitting, students can choose to work outside, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction before painting in the studio. Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention. You will be able to look at a few of her sketchbooks and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration for your painting. The second day will provide an opportunity for the group to critique each other’s work.
Portrait Painting Mid Holmwood
We also offer our Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Mid Holmwood area, a 2 day course led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. During this course, students will become familiar with the artist, his work and the philosophy behind it. The first day will start with a demonstration by Tim then you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which concentrate on form, tone and colour, rather than detail. The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail. In order to identify ways in which to create interest and tension in the work, students’ work will be discussed and their choices examined throughout this process. At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
